Would You Like a Do-Over on Your Family Vacation?

Half of the Americans recently surveyed by MasterCard said they wished they could redo a past family vacation. Given the stress involved in planning and taking the typical vacation, it’s a wonder that number isn’t higher.

In fact, MasterCard found that nearly 90% of Americans surveyed are “plagued” by the amount of time and effort it takes to plan a successful trip.

Half of them stress over the decision of where to go, while even more (57%) dread the stress of dealing with airports, and air travel. A full 44% worry about finding “family friendly” accommodations.

Women (74%) are more likely than men (67%) to be stressed-out by family vacation planning, MasterCard found.

With all this stress and worry, why take a vacation? After all, vacations are supposed to be relaxing and fun.

There was at least one helpful lesson learned from the survey: Families that have a plan are less likely than families that don’t to experience high levels of vacation stress. So, if you must take a family vacation, make detailed plans well ahead of time.

That way, you can get the stress out of the way ahead of time, and enjoy your vacation more.
