New-Vehicle Sales Pick Up in March
Lousy weather in much of the country kept traffic down in auto dealer showrooms last month, but March has been another story, according to J.D. Power.
The company said that total U.S. new-vehicle sales in March are the highest they’ve been in ten years for the month.
You would have to go back to March 2005 to top this month’s expected 1,539,600 new vehicle sales. Sales were up by 4% vs. March 2014.
Consumers are also spending more per vehicle than in the past, with an average new vehicle transaction price of around $30,530. This, plus the strong sales, adds up to the highest level of consumer spending on new vehicles ever for the month of March.
If your local car dealer seems happy this month, now you know why.
