Parents Will Be Buying More Toys This Year

Americans are planning to spend more on toys for their kids (and pets) this holiday season than they did last year, according to a new Harris Poll.

Harris found that 58% are planning to purchase toys as gifts this holiday season, vs just 51% last year.

The big news (for kids) is that they will be spending more on toys than they did in 2014, with 30% estimating that the total cost of those gifts will add up to more than last year. This is up twelve points from 2014.

Our furry friends will also be raking it in this holiday season: six in ten pet owners (61%) told Harris that they plan to buy presents for pets this holiday season.

It seems that the Grinches and Scrooges will be kept at bay this season. Children, pets and retail executives are cautiously optimistic.
