Online Job Listings Rise Again

February’s strong jobs report was accompanied by an equally strong rise in the number of job listings posted online during the month. Will we see another strong jobs report for March?

According to The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine (HWOL) Data Series, Online advertised vacancies were up by 184,100 for the month. That follows a strong growth in listings for January, and resulted in a total of 5,451,300 online listings.

The board tells us that there are still 1.70 unemployed for every job available, however. This translates to 3.7 million more unemployed workers there are advertised vacancies.

Things have gotten a lot better since the darkest days of the recession, but there’s clearly still room for improvement. Still, it’s good to see that there was a rise in job listings online during February. Hopefully, this will lead to another strong jobs report for this month.
