Find a Winery Tour Wherever You Travel

According to a 2013 article in The Washington Post the number of wineries in the U.S. has grown from 2,000 in Y2K to more than 8,000 –and they can now be found in all 50 states. Now there’s a website that can help you find your way to them, and have a taste.

Winecraze.com has launched as a site designed to help wine country tourists discover new wineries. You can use it to find a good winery tour – and a good local wine — wherever you travel around the country.

According to the site’s founders, Winecraze.com features 1,149 of the top wineries for tourists in North America. The company said that the wineries it selects for inclusion offer a range of amenities for tourists, with many offering on-site lodging, restaurants, gift shops, picnic areas, tasting rooms and other features.

You can search for a wine tour using alphabetical listings, and there’s an interactive map locator to help you find unknown wineries in a specific area.

Wineries have proliferated across the country, and the U.S. is now the fourth biggest wine producer in the world after France, Italy and Spain. However, California is still the biggest wine-producing state by far, with the Golden State producing 89% of all the wine made in the country.

While California certainly offers some of the most well-established winery tours, some of the newer wineries in other states host some of the most interesting ones – the kind where you get to meet the owners, for instance. You can use Winecraze.com to find some of these lesser-known gems.
