New Year’s Resolution: End Hunger in America
The economy has been doing much better lately than it was five years ago, yet there are still far too many people in the U.S. who face hunger on a daily basis.
According to domestic hunger-relief organization Feeding America, 42 million people in our nation currently face hunger. This includes 13 million children.
For these people, the holiday season is just another time to get by – with the added burden of having to watch other people spend frivolously and have fun.
It’s appalling that we have so many people struggling for the most basic needs of life in a country that counts its wealth in the trillions of dollars. But we do.
Let’s all resolve to do what we can to improve things in 2017. This includes not just supporting charities like Feeding America, but fighting for real changes in how our economy works to serve all Americans.
