And the Best State for Retirement Is…

It’s not Florida, or Arizona – or even Hawaii. According to a new report from Bankrate, the best state for retirement is Wyoming.

Bankrate ranked states on their suitability for retirement based on six factors, including cost of living, taxes, healthcare, weather, crime and residents’ overall well-being.

By these, Wyoming came out on top, followed by neighboring states South Dakota, Colorado and Utah.

It turns out that this region is a big winner when it comes to cost of living and crime – which are both very low by national standards.

While retirees will certainly get more year-round sun in some of the more traditional retiree-favored places, they won’t beat Wyoming for its winning combination of making a buck go further and keeping you safe to spend it in peace.
